India is the world’s third-largest producer producer of fertilizers with the country producing 3083.6 thousand tons of fertilizers in 2014-15. Over 50% of ingredients are imported. As far as pesticides are concerned, India is ranked as the largest producer of pesticides in Asia and twelfth in the world, although per capita consumption is significantly lower than international benchmarks.
